I keep my blog as a personal record of what I'm up to, which might be seen as working towards "An elegant sufficiency, content, retirement, rural quiet, friendship, books, ease and alternate labour, useful life"

I'm certainly not there yet.  There is quite some way to go!

Lucky Hero! I don't know anyone who owns two dozen pairs of socks.

Over 40 yrs ago I warned my husband -to-be that I did not do sock darning. I have never tried sock knitting but just know that however much I love him I wont be buying the lovely coloured wool that you are using.

Once one has worn hand knitted socks that fit perfectly and have no seams whatsoever...nothing else will do!

I used to knit socks from Froehlich Wolle back in the late 70ties when it came with its own special darning thread. Is that what is showing under the paper wrapper? Would you mind sharing where you buy this yarn nowadays. I have been using a different brand but I cannot find that where I am now. TIA
