St George’s Day
How typically English that, on St George’s Day, we don’t dye the rivers red or make a song and dance about it. Unless you were a Brownie or have some other reason to remember the date, it’s more than likely that the day would pass by uncelebrated, in this house as any other. It isn’t that I’m not proud of my heritage, you understand, it’s just that it’s not very English to crow about such things, is it?
I was pleased to see that Google marked the occasion with a special graphic today though and I took a photo of a red rose for my Project Life journal whilst I was shopping this morning.
However, did someone mention there’s an election coming up soon?
Oh heck.
Shall we celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday (and the anniversary of his death) instead?

We put our Union Flag up for the days as proscribed but I have to admit to forgetting the Queen's birthday this year ! We don't have a St George/English flag. Our French neighbours think that a British Rugby or Football team are playing when the flag is out.
Next time will be the new baby's birthday....
I am delighted to say in this part of the Country we have massive St George's Day celebrations. With events on Lytham Green, black tie ball, concerts and plenty of flags flying - only the dragon missing oh and perhaps a handsome saint on a white charger.
