I keep my blog as a personal record of what I'm up to, which might be seen as working towards "An elegant sufficiency, content, retirement, rural quiet, friendship, books, ease and alternate labour, useful life"

I'm certainly not there yet.  There is quite some way to go!

Here and there

and somehow, not much to report.

Or, perhaps that should be “not much I can report”, because there are some parts of my week which were fascinating but confidential.  Like the reason why there were so many empty biscuit boxes in Elaine’s waste bin last Tuesday.

We did have a lovely day out on Wednesday, when we met friends for lunch at Bibendum and then went to the Treasures of the Royal Courts exhibition which was fascinating.  Sadly, we just missed Naomi Campbell leaving the sold-out David Bowie exhibition, and couldn’t wait until Johnny Depp came out (the steward told us he was in there somewhere, too).    Instead, we met the son and heir for supper and were delighted to hear his good news – which of course, is his alone to share.

The week finished off nicely in the company of good friends here and there and all of a sudden, it’s Saturday.

Never mind.  I promise to be a little more creative tomorrow!

It's a quiet, cloudy, overcast day here in Calabasas, California, USA! Our local Fine Arts Festival is filling the Calabasas Commons with people and cars from all over the Southland. We've spent the weekend planting, trimming, potting, tending - all manner of getting everything outside ready for the Wednesday invasion of the Hilltoppers - the Valley guild of the Assistance League of Los Angeles. Last night, we enjoyed Dudamel and Lang Lang at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Tonight, we see Miss Julie at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood. You know me - never enough stage and screen!

Between all of this work and entertainment, I finally caught up with AN ELEGANT SUFFICIENCY. I thoroughly enjoyed your trip to NYC - all your discoveries, musings, and adventures fill me with glee. As you know, NYC is my favorite place on earth. I've been busy photographing our local flora and fauna and have been delighted with the duck who adopted several ducklings when their mother fell ill. Super duck now cares for ten ducklings!

We are looking forward to you know what! Terribly thrilled to know that we'll see Dame Helen Mirren, and happy to report that we've also booked CURIOUS INCIDENT... and MATILDA!

Enjoy your Sunday evening - I guess it''s almost 23:00 in the UK. We've got our DVR ready to record Nurse Jackie, Mr. Selfridge, and The Borgias while we're at the theatre.

Adios Muchachos - it is Cinco de Mayo, after all!
