I keep my blog as a personal record of what I'm up to, which might be seen as working towards "An elegant sufficiency, content, retirement, rural quiet, friendship, books, ease and alternate labour, useful life"

I'm certainly not there yet.  There is quite some way to go!

Fairford Sunday

Maggie mentioned the Fairford Air Tattoo in her weekend blog entries and we both hoped for a free air show at some point during the weekend. Well, this was it. At around 4.45pm, Sunday afternoon, there was a loud rumble and one solitary plane flew over. I suppose the wind was in the "other" direction and the residents of Oxford might have seen the show? I loved going to airshows as well as a kid. I grew up in Michigan and we would travel around the state during the summer and make a point to hit at least one airshow.
Not to lighten the mood, but I found some airshow footage of a Thunderbird accident where the pilot ejected just before crashing. Miraculously he survived with only minor injuries… The footage is in two perspectives, from the ground and a cockpit cam on the pilot. It's quite amazing!
